Herringbone is the lay that makes a floor look considered rather than installed. Each block sits at an angle to its neighbour, so the grain runs in two directions and light catches the surface differently as you move through the room. It is the oldest decorative timber pattern still in regular use, and it still does what it has always done: it draws the eye along the floor and gives a space a sense of direction.

Engineered construction, genuine timber surface

The wear layer is real oak, so what you walk on is timber with its own grain, knots and colour movement. Underneath, an engineered core holds the block steadier than a solid piece of oak would. Timber expands and contracts with heat and humidity, and Australian conditions ask a lot of a floor across a year. Layered construction is what keeps the pattern tight through those swings.

A finish made for daily traffic

Light wire brushing lifts the softer grain and leaves a surface with texture underfoot rather than a flat sheen. Over that sit multiple layers of UV lacquer, which is what carries the floor through shoes, chairs, pets and cleaning without the upkeep an oiled finish asks for.
